The ITER CTA Project Board was responsible to the Negotiators for the conduct of Coordinated Technical Activities. The Project Board consisted of a Chairman from a participant not proposing a site for ITER, plus the International Team Leader and Co-Leader, plus the Leader of each Participant Team (or their delegate).

The Project Board met several times per year, as needed, to agree on the Work Programme of the CTA and to monitor its progress. Technical issues raised by the Negotiators were incorporated within its Work Programme.
