ITER Construction Site
After much discussion between the ITER Participants, the original four site options in Canada, France, Japan and Spain, were narrowed down in 2003 to two sites (Japan and France), and finally in June 2005 to Cadarache, near Aix-en-Provence, France. The ITER Organisation will be centered here. In addition, the ITER Organisation will have branch offices on the territories of each ITER Party.

Below, the existing site of CEA is shown, which
houses the Tore Supra fusion experiment.
The construction site at Cadarache covers a total surface area of about 40 hectares with another 30 hectares which will be used temporarily during the construction period.
ITER will be built in a way that makes it possible to conduct experiments from remote centres throughout the participating countries.
Further information on the Cadarache site can be found (for the moment) on the website www.itercad.org. There is also a promotional video available about the site.
