Assembling a million-component machine

The ITER tokamak consists of 15 major sub-systems, some 300 very large elements — 1,200 tons for the heaviest of them — and approximately one million components. Such a complex machine, says Robert Shaw in this video interview, "has never been done before."

So let's join ITER's Machine Assembly and Installation Section Leader as he explains how to assemble this unique million-component machine, and presents the tools that will make this task possible.
