President Chirac of France visited the ITER construction site on 30th June, 2005.

"This project is essential for our future and the future of the planet", he declared in front of 1500 invited guests.

European Commissionier for Science and Research, Janez Potocnik, visited the ITER construction site on 3rd July, 2005.

"Iter is not just a large international research project but has great importance for this region, for the EU and for the whole world," Mr Potocnik said.
