English translation of the Press Release:

The Steering Committee of the ITER International School (including the French Government, the PACA Regional Council, the General Council of the Alpes de Haute Provence, the town of Manosque, the ITER Organization and Agence ITER France) held a meeting on Wednesday 7 February 2007 and put forward an interim proposal for the International School for 2007-8 and 2008-9 in the period before its new premises are made available by the Region.

The proposal made on the initiative of the PACA Regional Council is that the first children of the International School will be educated in premises belonging to the new Lycee Les Iscles in Manosque.

These first-class new buildings of this school will meet the high standard requested by the ITER Organization for the education of their staff's children.

The permanent International School will be located very near to the Lycee Les Iscles so that the families will be able to familiarise themselves with their future environment.

In addition, the Region is planning to fit out the premises in the period from now until the start of the 2007 school year, in order to allow ITER students of all ages (primary and secondary) to study under the best conditions.

This plan will also give the best possible start to the International School becoming integrated in the local educational environment.

This proposal is completely compatible with the existing plans for the development of the teaching structure of the Lycee Les Iscles. The school will also benefit from hosting this unusual teaching structure.

This proposal will become definite following deliberations by the authorities concerned.
