The Bureau of International Cooperation (BIC) facilitates communication and enhances interaction with the ITER Members and their relevant domestic institutions (in particular the Domestic Agencies) in order to optimize understanding on the way to most successfully implement the ITER project. To this end, the BIC supports the Director-General in all matters related to cooperation and coordination with the Members. 

BIC staff advise and report to the Director-General concerning overall cooperation and communication with the Members and work to facilitate this cooperation. BIC staff also assists the Director-General in the implementation of decisions related to Member relations and facilitates the successful dissemination of information on the ITER project to the Members through participation in the ITER Project Board. BIC Members monitor cooperation with the Members and liaise with high-level representatives on behalf of the Director-General as necessary. 
 
The BIC also plays a role in encouraging and facilitating the application of highly qualified candidates for ITER Organization staff positions.
