Directorate for CODAC, Heating and Diagnostics (CHD) Paul Thomas The Directorate for CODAC, Heating & Diagnostics (CHD) has responsibility for three systems that are essential to the correct and safe operation of the ITER Tokamak and the execution of the ITER physics program: Control, Data Access and Communication (CODAC) gathers and analyzes data and sends signals to other Tokamak systems in order to control the plasma; the heating and current drive system adds heat and current to the plasma so that the fusion conditions can be initiated and maintained; and the diagnostic systems, which measure and allow optimization of the plasma performance. The CHD Directorate is in charge of Procurement Arrangements, fabrication and testing for each of these areas. ‹‹ Return to Highest Level
