The Department for ITER Project (DIP) regroups the six technical directorates that are responsible for the construction of the ITER device. The Department's objective is the timely construction of ITER within the given budgetary framework and in strict respect of all safety regulations.
DIP spearheads the technical directorates by coordinating their work and securing overall technical integration. The Department reports regularly to the ITER Director-General and also interfaces with the Domestic Agencies. Through the Directorate for Plasma Operation (POP), DIP will provide the necessary physics scenarios for First Plasma and plasma operation. Through the Directorate for Buildings and Site Infrastructure (BSI), DIP supervises all building construction and machine assembly. At all times, the Department tracks cost saving and cost containment solutions throughout its Directorates.
