The Director-General of the ITER project is Kaname Ikeda from Japan. He is responsible for strategic management planning and policies, and representation of the ITER Organization to all official instances.  The Office of the Director-General (ODG) Department assists the Director-General in his functions by coordinating input from all ITER departments, and keeping him abreast of the day-to-day development of the project. The Office of the Director-General (ODG) Department gives advice on policy, management, legal matters, and communications. The office of the Internal Auditor is also included in ODG.
