For "his role in the construction and successful commissioning of the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) on time and to budget, within the constraints of a multi-laboratory collaboration," ITER Principal Deputy Director-General Norbert Holtkamp was awarded this year's European Physical Society Accelerator Group Prize. The Selection Committee, under the chairmanship of Leonid Rivkin from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) met on 20 February 2008 and chose Norbert Holtkamp in the category of achievement for a recent, significant contribution in the accelerator field. The prize will be awarded during the EPAC'08 conference in Genoa this June. return to Newsline #21
