On Tuesday, 28 July 2020, we will celebrate the “Start of the ITER Machine Assembly”. The event will be hosted by the French President Emmanuel Macron; other state leaders will participate remotely. It will be live-streamed and a remote press conference will be held afterwards.
The event will be live-streamed, in three parts (all times listed are French local times):
10:00 a.m. Tour of the ITER worksite and large components on site
11:00 a.m. Ceremony, including statements by world leaders
12:30 p.m. Press conference

Multiple Heads of State and senior government officials will participate, representing each ITER Member. Some will participate via livestream directly (e.g., French President Emmanuel Macron); some via pre-recorded video (e.g., Korean President Moon Jae-in); some via a statement conveyed by a minister (e.g., Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe). In some cases, the level of participation is still to be confirmed.
