The ITER Project offers many employment opportunities, both at an international and at a regional level. It is estimated that in the coming years, the number of jobs linked to ITER—either direct, indirect or induced—will reach 6,000 to 7,000. In France, there are several ways to work for ITER.
Jobs at the ITER Organization
If you are a citizen of one of the ITER Member states (China, EU, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, US), and you are interested in relocating to southern France for an international career in a multi-cultural working environment, the ITER Organization offers job opportunities in many different fields. Construction of the ITER facility has been underway since 2010. Construction activity will reach its peak in 2015-2017; combined with the needs of machine and plant assembly operations that begin in 2016, up to 4,000 workers are expected to work on the ITER site for the period 2017-2018. In the office buildings and on the worksite close to 100 companies currently work at ITER, assisted by an array of subcontractor companies. These companies work either for the ITER Organization, the European Domestic Agency (Fusion for Energy) that is responsible for nearly all site construction), the European architect/engineering consortium Engage, the French agency for ITER Agence ITER France. The ITER Project therefore also supports regional employment in many different domains.
