4th ITER Public-Private Fusion Workshop

12-13 April 2027 | ITER Headquarters, France

The 4th ITER Public-Private Fusion Workshop will bring together the public and private fusion communities to strengthen collaboration across the global fusion ecosystem.

As fusion enters a new phase of development, the challenges facing the field are increasingly shared. The workshop will provide a forum for participants to exchange perspectives on what is needed to move from scientific and technological progress toward the construction and operation of future fusion facilities.

  • Engineering challenges
  • Industrial capabilities
  • Workforce development
  • Facilities and partnerships needed to accelerate progress

Building on ITER's unique experience as the world's largest fusion project, discussions will explore how knowledge, expertise, and lessons learned can most effectively benefit the wider fusion community, while also identifying areas where cooperation among public institutions, academia, industry, and private ventures can be further strengthened.

A particular focus will be placed on developing the skills, infrastructure, and collaborative networks required to support the next generation of fusion facilities and future commercial deployment. How can stronger links be built between research and education on the one hand, and technology development and industrial deployment on the other?

The fourth edition builds upon the success of three previous workshops. The inaugural event in 2024 helped establish the foundations of ITER's Private Sector Fusion Engagement (PSFE) Project; the 2025 edition explored practical mechanisms for knowledge sharing and collaboration; and Fusion: A Joint Quest in 2026 broadened the conversation across the global fusion ecosystem. In 2027, the emphasis will shift increasingly from dialogue to action, with the goal of fostering new partnerships, encouraging concrete collaborative initiatives, and strengthening connections across the fusion landscape.

The program for the 4th ITER Public-Private Fusion Workshop will be published soon. Registration will open in late November 2026. Please check this page for updates.
