The ITER Organization brings together people from all over the world to be part of a thrilling human adventure in southern France—building the ITER Tokamak. We require the best people in every domain.

In a high pressure environment, we offer challenging full time assignments in a wide range of areas and encourage applications from candidates with all levels of experience, from recent graduates to experienced professionals. Applications from under-represented ITER Members and from female candidates are strongly encouraged as the ITER Organization supports diversity and gender equality in the workplace.

Our working environment is truly multi-cultural, with 29 different nationalities represented among staff. The ITER Organization Code of Conduct gives guidance in matters of professional ethics to all staff and serves as reference for the public with regards to the standards of conduct that third parties are entitled to expect when dealing with the ITER Organization.

The south of France is blessed with a very privileged living environment and a mild and sunny climate. The ITER Project is based in Saint Paul-lez-Durance, located between the southern Alps and the Mediterranean Sea—an area offering every conceivable sporting, leisure and cultural opportunity.

ITER VALUES AND COMPETENCIES

Each staff member working at ITER is required to maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of the ITER Safety Program, ITER values and Code of Conduct.

This ambitious scientific project is held to the highest standards, and so are its employees. ITER staff put forward their best work and strive to create a work environment that is defined by the ITER values of trust, diversity and inclusiveness, loyalty, team spirit, integrity, and excellence. Each value contributes to the success of ITER, as well as to the maintenance of a supportive and efficient workplace.

Trust: A project on the scale of ITER means that trust is essential to progress. The value of trust not only means relying on each other's decisions and skills, but also being open to new ideas and sharing information accurately to avoid miscommunication.  Part of trust also involves providing feedback in a helpful and positive way, in order to help the team grow.

Diversity and Inclusiveness: ITER is a global project, and staff members come from a vast array of different backgrounds and cultures. In such an environment, bias and exclusion cannot be tolerated. Rather, it is the broad diversity of perspectives and backgrounds that gives unique strength and value to the ITER mission. Regardless of race, nationality, gender, religion, status, sexual orientation, or disability, all are welcome and respected at ITER.

Loyalty: Strong commitment to the cause of ITER drives progress. The value of loyalty also means that staff will support the ITER Organization both internally and externally, as they are wholly dedicated to the project. The success of ITER is the success of everyone who made the project possible.

Team Spirit: No single person is responsible for the results of any piece of the project; it is through collaboration alone that ITER is possible. Team spirit brings individuals together under one unifying cause. ITER connects people from diverse backgrounds, and staff members support each other to help realise the goals of the team and the organization.

Integrity: The value of integrity asks for transparency and honesty in the workplace. Staff members speak out when they see harassment or abuse of power and resources. And because the ITER Organization stands on a global platform, the value of integrity requires confidentiality in accordance with ITER policies.

Excellence: Every piece of the ITER project requires detail and care, and staff members ensure that their work is accurate and to the highest standard of quality. Excellence also involves operating within certain constraints of time, budget, or other resources, and finding creative solutions to new problems that arise as part of an ever-evolving project.

As a nuclear facility, ITER's core technical competencies of 1) Nuclear safety, environment, radioprotection and pressured equipment 2) Occupational Health, safety and security 3) Quality assurance processes, will be acquired through on-board training at a basic level for all ITER staff members.
