On-Site Fabrication

The components of the ITER machine and plant—the large and the small—have been manufactured in the factories of the ITER Members and shipped to the ITER site ... except in two cases, where the components were simply too large to be transported. The largest poloidal field coils, measuring 17 to 24 metres in diameter, and the ITER cryostat sub-sections, measuring 30 metres in diameter, were produced in dedicated facilities on the ITER platform.
