A vacuum vessel to serve ITER

On Wednesday, 30 June, a special transport convoy delivered a seven-tonne parcel to the Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research (IRFM) at CEA-Cadarache.

A "European procurement package," this parcel contained a 23-cubic-metre vacuum vessel that will be part of a test bed to qualify, in "tokamak conditions," some of ITER's components—among them the ion cyclotron resonance heating antenna.
