PA Project Teams have been established for each Procurement Arrangement. Pictured here are the ITER Organization members of the Conductor PA Project Team in action: (from left) Arnaud Devred, Section Leader for ITER's Superconducting Systems; Ina Backbier, Senior Project Coordinator; Mark Gardner, Magnets Quality Assurance Responsible Officer; and Pat Vaughn, Planning & Scheduling Officer.

A unique feature of ITER. Almost all of the plant components will be provided to the ITER Organization through in-kind contributions from the seven Members. In this graph, the 'machine core' comprises all the magnet systems, the vacuum vessel, the blanket systems and the divertor. The "internal auxiliaries" include machine assembly, remote handling systems, cryostat, cooling water and thermal shields. "External auxiliaries" comprise vacuum pumping and fuelling, tritium plant, cryoplant and distribution, power supplies, heating and diagnostics. "Control" stands for the three heating and current drive systems, diagnostics and CODAC.
"The in-kind procurement concept in ITER is unique," explains Ina Backbier, who is Senior Project Coordinator in the Project Office. "The ITER Organization and the Domestic Agencies are working together as partners, without a typical client/supplier relationship. The interdependencies between all players in the project make for a very complex technical and organizational work environment."
