ITER Open Doors Day—29 November 2025
The ITER Organization and the European Domestic Agency for ITER, Fusion for Energy, invite you to the upcoming edition of the public ITER Open Doors Day on Saturday 29 November 2025.
Interactive displays, mockups, demonstrations (virtual reality experiences, hands-on demos by ITER "Plasmagicians" and the science association Les Petits Débrouillards) will be on offer at the ITER Visitors Centre, where ITER ambassadors will be available to answer your questions throughout the day.
Worksite visits will be arranged every 30 minutes. They will include two stops* (reservation is mandatory):
- The Assembly Hall
- The Tokamak Building
*Please note that the visit circuit may be modified without prior notice as a result of ongoing construction work.
How to subscribe?
- Register online and choose a time slot
- Bring your identity card or passport on the day of the visit (REMINDER: a driver's licence is not accepted as a proof of identity)
- Bring your E-ticket (printed or electronic version).
- Wear clothes compatible with a worksite visit: flat, closed shoes; no skirts, shorts, or dresses.
The Open Doors Day will take place between 09:30 a.m. and 17:30 p.m. and is free of charge.
- Worksite visits in English depart from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Worksite visits in French depart from 12:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m. (no translation).
Security Information
- Children below the age of 6 will not be allowed to attend any part of the Open Doors Day.
- The construction site tour is not adapted to visitors with impaired mobility.
- Please note: visitors will be required to walk on the ITER site and through ITER buildings, and to negotiate stairs (up and down) during the visit.
- Please make sure that each participant you register is capable of this level of mobility.
Practical details
When you arrive at ITER Headquarters in Saint Paul-lez-Durance, proceed to the staff parking lot to park your car.
Go to the reception building in order to take care of access formalities by presenting your ID and E-ticket. Passports (or ID cards for EU citizens) and E-tickets (printed or electronic versions) are mandatory.
Shuttle buses running approximately every 10 minutes will take you to the worksite cafeteria*, which is the departure point for the one-hour tour of the worksite (buses leave approximately every 30 minutes). From there, it is also only a short walk to the Visitors Centre with its exhibits and guides.
Visitor Centre hours: 09:30 to 17h30.
Visitors should be appropriately dressed for the worksite tour—flat, closed shoes and no skirts, shorts, or dresses.
We will provide mandatory safety equipment for all participants (hard hats and visitor vests).
At the end of your tour of the worksite, the buses will return you to the departure point. From there it is a short walk to the Visitor Centre (closing time: 17:30).
Shuttle buses will leave approximately every 10 minutes from in front of the worksite cafeteria to bring you back to your cars in the parking lot.
*Refreshments and snacks are available for purchase.
In accordance with the Host State “VIGIPIRATE” rules, access to the ITER site is subject to measures such as inspection of bags, luggage and packages.
In order to ease the the process of access control conditions and visual inspection, you are requested to apply the following rules when entering the ITER site:
- For vehicles that have a hatchback cover, the cover shall be removed to allow ease of visual inspection.
- The left rear window shall be completely lowered.
- The boot (trunk) of the vehicle shall be kept as empty as possible, to enable effective visual inspection.
- The ITER Organization requires a certain amount of personal information from visitors in order to ensure the appropriate level of safety and security.
