Description

Purpose/Scope:

The purpose of the assignment is, under ITER Organization Responsible Officer leadership, to prepare design and manufacturing assessments of integrated diagnostic ports components IO-led diagnostic ports and for ports which manufacturing is led by Domestic Agencies as well as to contribute to the technical follow-up of the IO manufacturing contracts of big common components and integrate ports.

List of activities:

• Collaborates closely with IO Responsible Officers to define, coordinate, and consolidate interface requirements and consolidation between integrated systems, port infrastructures, and associated major components;
• Assist in drafting, refining, and reviewing detailed technical specifications for manufacturing activities under the guidance and technical direction of the IO ROs;
• Provides follow-up of port and diagnostic manufacturing contracts with industrial partner;
• Conducts Quality Control checks and inspection activities during manufacturing, follow-up with the industry, according to the IO procedures and under the instructions of IO Responsible Officers;
• Coordinates and follows up on port and diagnostic manufacturing contracts with Domestic Agencies, ensuring timely reporting and interface alignment with IO expectations.;
• Ensures that decisions are documented clearly and traceably, using verifiable data and task-related facts.
• Manages multiple concurrent tasks by setting clear priorities and tracking progress systematically.
• Any other activity related to the overall IPA activities.

Experience & Profile:

Professional Experience:
6 - 9 years

Language Requirements:
Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Technical Competencies and Experience:

• Experience in quality control for manufacturing activities;
• Experience in Mechanical engineering of complex structures;
• Experience in interface management of complex mechanical systems
• Experience in reviewing technical documentation (welding, NDE, material certificates...) of manufacturing activities with industry;
• Understanding of schematics and 3D/2D models;
• Experience in using the Nuclear Codes and Standards (RCC-MR, ASME, EN, etc);
• Experience in Quality Control during manufacturing in the industry;
• Experience working in an international environment;
• Fluent in writing/ speaking English;
• Ability to write technical reports and specifications.

Description

Purpose/Scope:

ITER CODAC is in the process of commissioning and integration of plant control systems delivered by the ITER partners under Domestic Agencies (DA) governance. There is a high demand from DAs, off-site suppliers, institutes, and laboratories to provide effective means of remote participation in plant commissioning and operation. This goes in line with the IO's overarching goal of better involvement of DAs in the IO processes.

In response to this, ITER CODAC has designed and built networks and infrastructure to support the remote participation of ITER partners in commissioning and operation. The remote participation infrastructure currently extends to two DAs and four fusion institutes in six out of seven ITER parties. This infrastructure and the associated daily activities generate a support workload that needs to be handled by an IPA.

Remote Participation, being part of CODAC Operational Applications, relies on a quickly evolving stack of hardware and software technologies. Regular follow-up is needed to test the new technologies and adapt control system interfaces to them. The Operational Applications themselves are a product in active development and will need contributions to provide an even set of features to local and remote users.

List of activities:

The following activities are foreseen for the Associate:

• Provides assistance with the configuration of the Remote Participation functionality in the Main Control Room, Main Server Room, and at the test stands, ensuring proper setup and performance.
• Communicates daily with the ITER CODAC as well as the ITER IT infrastructure and networking teams to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
• Monitors the Remote Participation infrastructure effectively, including services, both local and global network connectivity.
• Performs proactive maintenance of Remote Participation software and hardware, and updates operational procedures and technical documentation regularly.
• Oversees and tests new technologies relevant to Remote Participation to ensure compatibility and performance.
• Supports ongoing and future collaboration activities between IO with DAs and institutes in the field of Remote Participation.
• Provides assistance and training to remote teams at the ITER parties in the area of Remote Participation, especially staff located at the permanently deployed ITER Remote Participation Centers.
• Contributes to testing and integration activities of CODAC Operational Applications of relevance or interfacing with Remote Participation.

Technical Competencies and Experience:

Mandatory requirements:

• At least five years' work experience with control systems of experimental physics installations.
• Experience with global network technologies; understanding of principles of WAN, VLAN, VRF, VPN; understanding of the impact of long distance on network performance.
• Experience with IT security, both on software (encryption, certificates, 2FA, ...) and on hardware levels (firewalls, network diodes, traffic inspection, ...).
• Experience with Linux systems, notably with RedHat-like systems (power user or administrator).
• Programming skills in Shell, C++ and Python.
• Experience of working with international and muti-cultural partners; good command of English.

Optional skills which would be seen as an advantage:

Experience with remote access to experimental physics installations.

• Understanding of principles of tokamak operation (continuous and pulsed systems, plasma control, plasma diagnostics, data acquisition and post-processing, ...).
• Experience with the ITER CODAC software and its main underlying components (EPICS, CS-Studio, DAN / UDA).
• Experience with Cloud environment (notably Microsoft Azure).
• Experience with video / AR / VR technologies.

Description

Purpose/Scope:

The IPA will support the Ex-Vessel Coil Power Supplies Project (ECPS) with the following:

• Facilitates the review of electrical and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) commissioning procedures prepared by PF converter commissioning contractors;
• Coordinates the Poloidal Field (PF) Converter in-field commissioning activity by supervising the electrical and I&C tests and Site acceptance test (SAT) executed by commissioning contractors;
• Contributes to the review and validation of the PF Converter tests and commissioning reports;
• Coordinates the High Voltage Commissioning preparation and execution activities in B32 and B33, linking to the test in B38, A39, B74, B75, and B11.
• Cooperates and performs the preparation of the operational specifications for the commissioned systems.

List of activities:

• Reviews thoroughly the punch list resolution, commissioning preparation, and execution documentations, including plans, procedures, reports, etc., for the PF Converters on-site tests and the joint commissioning with Master Control Systems;
• Assists in carrying out the preservation and maintenance activities of the PF Power Converter systems;
• Monitors the in-field commissioning and site acceptance test of the PF High Current Power Converters for both main power components and associated I&C systems;
• Participates in the site engineering activities of the tests and the commissioning for PF Power Converters, including the associated I&C systems and the related other systems, such as Cooling Water System and Control, Data Access and Communication (CODAC), etc. The process and outcomes of each activity shall be clearly summarized and documented.
• Supports in implementing the technical solutions to resolve in-field issues related to the commissioning and the site acceptance test of the PF Converter systems;
• Assists the technical responsible officers in the High Voltage Commissioning preparation and execution activities;
• Manages multiple concurrent tasks by setting clear priorities and tracking progress systematically.
• Ensures that decisions are documented clearly and traceably, using verifiable data and task-related facts.
• Supports the TROs in the follow-up of suppliers and contracts.

Technical Competencies and Experience:

At least 10 years of working experience in testing and commissioning large electrical systems or high-power conversion systems. This includes experience in supervising the commissioning of HV and LV electrical systems and their associated I&C.

Specific Training to Perform the Assignment:

• Low-voltage training.
• High voltage training.
• Working at height training.

Specific Requirements and Conditions:

• Experience in testing and commissioning of the power conversion systems of Tokamak devices or equivalent large projects would be an advantage;
• Experience in engineering analysis of high-power conversion systems would be an advantage;
• Experience in the operation of high-power conversion systems would be an advantage;
• Basic mechanical knowledge would be an advantage;
• Good ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment, solving problems in a multi-task environment to strict deadlines;
• Computer and IT skills;
• Good working knowledge of MS Office suite.

Description

Purpose/Scope:

• Preparation of tender documentation for the In-vessel Diagnostics, Fuelling and Instrumentation installation contracts (Phase-1 & Phase-2).
• Preparation, revision, and optimization of the construction work packages (CWP) part of the In-vessel Diagnostics, Fuelling and Instrumentation installation scope.
• Follow-up of activities at the construction site for on-site infrastructure/facilities installation.
• Support the In-Vessel Assembly team in following up on construction contracts.

List of activities:

• Collect and compile technical inputs from different IO units for inclusion in Technical Specifications and Scope of Works documents.
• Draft Technical Specification for tenders, identifying key deliverables, milestones, interface responsibilities, and quality control and safety requirements.
• Follow-up of In-Vessel Assembly contracts, in support of the IO-Contract Responsible Officer(s).
• Ensure all referenced Construction Work Packages documents (e.g. Drawings, BoM, Technical Specifications, Manufacturer Dossier, etc.) are correctly linked and updated.
• Review construction documentation received from IO systems to assess relevance for In-Vessel Assembly execution.
• Collaborate with the IO and CMA to review the installation work packages received from the In-Vessel Assembly contractor(s).
• Follow-up of activities at the construction site as and when requested by the IO-Contract Responsible Officer(s).

• Minimum 10 years specific knowledge of Russian manufacturing technologies required for EHF FW panel manufacture i.e. HIP and armor braze technologies, welding and NDT practises
• Minimum 5 years designing for series production and cost efficiency
• Experience of the ITER Vacuum Handbook specifically related to Thinwall issues and the application of ESR materials.
• Experience with manufacturing and Heat treatment processes associated with the defined FW materials such as CuCrZr, 316LN-IG and tungsten
• Minimum 8 years working with Ultra high Vacuum in vessel components (i.e. FW and Divertor)
