Simply click on Apply now! on the left part of this page and consult our current job offers. They are published, on average, for 4 to 6 weeks. Upon applying to an offer for which you feel qualified, you will be asked to fill in your application file including your resume and cover letter in English.
Any false or misleading statement, or withholding relevant information, may stop any competition process and provide grounds for the withdrawal of any offer of appointment or the termination of employment at the IO.
The ITER Organization regularly publishes positions, so be sure to consult our website for updated job postings and take advantage of the job alert function on our recruitment website.
Please also note that only job applications submitted directly through this website will be taken into consideration.
Extensive experience in similar jobs (involving similar work responsibilities) and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains may be considered a reasonable substitute for the required educational degree.
Candidates who have applied for positions at ITER and, following the Selection Panel assessment, have not been selected but have been recognised to have the relevant competencies, may be endorsed by the Director General to be part of a Roster Membership and be considered for positions with similar functions that may arise in the future.
The rostered candidate, with reference to a previous application, may then be considered and selected for another position. If the candidate is informed by ITER Organization that they have been nominated to participate in another competition, the candidate should ensure that their profile on the ITER profile space is kept up-to-date. (http://iter.profils.org).
Candidate Pre-selection or "Nomination"
After applying for a position, the Domestic Agency (DA) will process your application and may choose to pre-select or "nominate" it for the position. When your application is nominated, the DA will inform you by email and then send your application to the ITER Organization so that it may be considered for an interview.
The nomination phase lasts on average one month from the publication deadline. The contact information for all ITER Members (i.e. Domestic Agencies) can be found here, to enable you to contact them at any time in the recruitment process.
Following nomination, an ITER Selection Board will review your application, along with all other applications that were nominated by the Domestic Agencies for a specific position, and you may be selected as a candidate to be interviewed for that position.
To ensure equal treatment for all candidates, our interviews are carried out using remote connection technologies (for example, Skype, video conference and webex).
Your interview will last approximately 30/45 minutes and will be carried out with a Selection Board (comprising of four to five members). Preparation is the key word to your interview, you will be interviewed only ONCE for a given position, and your interview will begin with a brief introduction of your relevant professional experience for the position. In addition the Selection Board will be particularly looking at the candidate's ability to answer questions concisely and presenting concrete examples of achievements. Be sure to read the job offer carefully to fully understand how you meet the position's requirements.
You may be invited for additional written tests and/or an additional interview on site. If that is the case, you will receive a written invitation, together with specific recommendations and guidelines. We ask that you make transportation reservations and book your own accommodation—you will be reimbursed by the ITER Organization upon the presentation of justifying documents according to the rules stipulated in the invitation letter.
This selection and interview phase takes place over a period of about two months.
The final recruitment decision is made by ITER's Director-General. You will normally be informed of the decision up to six weeks after your interview and on average our new employees begin working for ITER two to three months later.
Rest assured that when you are recruited, the ITER Organization and the Welcome Office of Agence Iter France will provide you with the individualized support and assistance needed to facilitate your integration in France and also within ITER. This includes, but is not limited to, assistance with French visa and administrative procedures, removal and travel expenses, help with finding accommodation, French language classes, and International schooling for your children. More information on these topics may be found on the ITER webpage on Benefits and the Agence Iter France Welcome Office website.
Your first days at ITER
At ITER we believe that your first day of work is essential to your integration within the Organization. We therefore do our best to ensure that all administrative procedures are taken care of, that you meet key actors, and that you are properly welcomed by your direct supervisor and team members. Your manager and team members also explain to you in more detail what is expected of you, how the team works, basic knowledge needed for your functional area, etc.
Special notice for IO vacancies: the appointment to a position may be made at a lower grade if the qualifications and professional experience of the selected applicant correspond to that grade; in this case, the duties and responsibilities assigned will be adjusted accordingly.
In the following weeks, you will have the opportunity to meet individually with the Director-General and also with your the Head of your Directorate. Within two to three months of your arrival, you will also follow a specialized Induction training course to give you the basic organizational elements you will need to help boost your integration within the Organization.
