Giant switch to power ITER



This technical drawing (not an architect's rendition) clearly shows how the three-hectare switchyard that will deliver power up to 620 MW will be integrated into the ITER site. The giant switch is composed of seven 400 kV transformers. Construction by Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE) should begin in the coming weeks. © ITER Organization Design Office/Hurzlmeier/Niculici
