The Post-Graduate Program offers recent graduates the opportunity to begin their professional career in an international environment, contributing to ITER’s mission to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion energy as a safe, sustainable, and low carbon energy source for the future. The program is designed as a first professional step after graduation, combining meaningful work, career development in a field shaping the future of energy, and knowledge transfer within a real project environment.

What does the program offer?

The Post-Graduate Program is a 24-month structured assignment, extendable for up to an additional 24 months, subject to business needs and performance.

Who can apply?

The program is open to candidates who:

  • Have completed, or are about to complete, a Master’s or Engineering degree (or equivalent)
  • Have no more than two years' of professional experience when applying (excluding internships)
  • Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills in English within a multinational environment
  • Hold a valid passport from one of the ITER Members: People's Republic of China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the USA

How to apply?

Applications must be submitted online through the ITER Open Positions webpage.

To apply, candidates are required to submit the following items:

  • CV (recommended 1–2 pages), including English proficiency
  • Personal Statement (maximum 1 page) outlining who you are, your story, background and achievements
  • References (e.g., professor) 

All candidates are informed of the outcome once the process is completed. 

Practical information and further resources

  • Start dates: April and November
  • Contract duration: 2 years, renewable for up to 2 additional years, subject to business needs and performance
  • Location: ITER Organization, France (on-site)
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
  • Compensation and benefits: P1 grade (see Benefits at ITER)
  • All ITER staff members are required to comply with the ITER safety program, uphold the ITER Project CARE Values, and adhere to the ITER Organization Code of Conduct.
