Monaco/ITER and ITER Postdoctoral Fellowships
Through the ITER Postdoctoral Program, the ITER Organization seeks to recruit highly qualified PhD graduates in science, technology, and engineering whose expertise aligns with the needs of the ITER project. Selected candidates are recruited for two-year assignments to work alongside ITER specialists and contribute to the project through original research.
Beginning with the 2026 recruitment campaign, a single call for applications will cover the following funding schemes:
Monaco/ITER Postdoctoral Fellowships
Through a Partnership Arrangement signed with the ITER Organization in 2008, and renewed in 2018, the Principality of Monaco provides the financing for five Postdoctoral Fellowships every two years in science and technology at ITER.
You can apply if: 1) you are a national of China, the European Union plus Switzerland, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, the United States, or the Principality of Monaco; and 2) your PhD was awarded after 1 January 2023 (or you will have received your PhD before 31 December 2026).
The principal motivation of candidates should be the development of excellence in research in fusion science and technology within the ITER framework. Recognized talent and creativity, together with an understanding of the relevance of your research interests to the ITER project, are required.
Postdoctoral positions funded directly by the ITER Domestic Agencies
Agreements may be signed for post-doctoral research fellowships between the ITER Organization and the ITER Domestic Agencies, in which the Domestic Agencies directly fund scientific or technical fellowships in fields of mutual interest and with a view to contributing to training the talent that will be needed for the fusion industry of the future.
Candidates must be a national of the funding ITER Member. For example, to apply to Korea-ITER Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships you must be a Korean post-doctoral researcher.
Application process
The application process for both Fellowship categories is the same.
