Fusion, the nuclear reaction that powers the Sun and the stars, is a promising long-term option for a sustainable, non-carbon emitting global energy supply.
The ITER Organization (IO), based in southern France, welcomes best talents who can together prepare the way to this new energy in a truly multi-cultural work environment.
We offer challenging assignments in a wide range of areas and encourage applications from candidates with all levels of experience. Applications from under-represented ITER Members' nations and women candidates are strongly encouraged, as IO strongly believes that a diversified, equitable, and inclusive workplace is crucial in solving one of the most complex scientific and engineering projects in the world today.
As the IO attracts and retains people coming from a vast array of different backgrounds and cultures, discrimination and exclusion cannot be tolerated. The IO believes it is our diverse perspectives and backgrounds that gives unique strength and value to the ITER mission, regardless of race, member nation, gender, religion, status, sexual orientation, or disability - all are welcome and respected at ITER.
ITER VALUES AND COMPETENCIES
Each staff member working at ITER is required to maintain a strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of the ITER Safety Program, ITER values and Code of Conduct. Additional guidance and tips on the conduct expected from staff members is provided in the Code's Frequently Asked Questions.
This ambitious scientific project is held to the highest standards, and so are its employees. ITER staff put forward their best work and strive to create a work environment that is defined by the ITER values of collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence (CARE). The CARE values are a framework that guide our actions and define the culture and spirit of the ITER Project. We perform our work with care, we care for the well-being of our colleagues, our families and ourselves, and we care about the health of the planet for generations to come. CARE drives our work and our conduct at ITER.

We appreciate the value that our multicultural and diverse community brings to the ITER Project. We create a space where everyone is welcome and included, where each voice is respected and embraced. Caring for people and the planet is embedded in the fabric of our organization.
Excellence: We are driven by excellence. We are agile and innovative while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and integrity. We carry a responsibility for future generations, but also for the safety and health of all who work on the project.
As a nuclear facility, ITER's core technical competencies of 1) nuclear safety, environment, radioprotection and pressured equipment; 2) occupational health, safety and security, and; 3) quality control and quality assurance processes will be acquired through on-board training at a basic level for all ITER staff members.
Special notice for IO vacancies: the appointment to a position may be made at a lower grade if the qualifications and professional experience of the selected applicant correspond to that grade; in this case, the duties and responsibilities assigned will be adjusted accordingly. Extensive experience in similar jobs (involving similar work responsibilities) and/or additional training certificates in relevant domains may be considered a reasonable substitute for the required educational degree.
The deadline is 10 minutes before midnight, Central European Time (GMT+1, or GMT+2 from the last Sunday in March until the last Sunday in October).
Once you have completed your application, you can see the jobs which you have applied for in the "Job Management" section. You can also track the progress of your application in this section. To avoid our email being spammed, which may sometimes happen, please add "no-reply@iter.org" e-mail address to your safe sender address list.
Candidates who have applied for positions at ITER and, following the Selection Panel assessment, have not been selected but have been recognised to have the relevant competencies, may be endorsed by the Director General to be part of a Roster Membership and be considered for positions with similar functions that may arise in the meantime or in the future.
The rostered candidate, with reference to a previous application, may then be considered and selected for another position. If the candidate is informed by ITER Organization that they have been nominated to participate in another competition, the candidate should ensure that their profile on the ITER profile space is kept up-to-date.
